Storming out of Portland.
12.6.05

Rowdies. Alex here. Tons of New Radio madness to report.

First of all, we're really happy with the positive reaction to Something So Familiar. It's been really rewarding to read the reviews, and we're lookin' to parlay the book's good favor into greater success with The Last Island.

Speaking of The Last Island, there's another teaser image of the book available here. The book comes out in stores in the first week of April, right before Alternative Press Expo, which Jad and I'll be kickin' butt at. Shortly before that, though, there will be an interview of me at The Pulse about silent comics and about all things New Radio. And all month in April tons of my SSF and Last Island original art will be hanging on the walls of Portland's Sequential Art Gallery.

Jad and I were invited as guests to Staple! The Independent Media Expo in Austin, Texas. The show's on March 4th, 2006, and I'm supposed to speak with others on their Xeric panel. Jad and I are freakin' pumped. It'll be our first show of the year, our first ever outside of Portland. We're lookin' to have a good time. There may be early copies of The Last Island for sale at the show, too.

More comin', team. Work has begun on Poison the Cure, and we might let you look at some pages soon.

Comics life, y'all. 2 Rowdy.

Up and Running
10.4.05

Hey, all. The New Radio's got you all hooked up. Now you can buy our available goods via Paypal, even if you don't have a Paypal account. You can go here to buy Something So Familiar and the 11x17 poster of the book's splash page. If you'd rather not buy electronically, just email us, let us know what you want and when we get your check we'll send off your goods.

Also, check out the second teaser we've posted for The Last Island. The book is almost finished, and although we're looking at an April 2006 release, you can catch more teasers here until then.

And when I start working with Jad on Poison in a week or two, lots of preview art and lots more character drawings will show up here. Come back soon, y'all.

Wheeling and Dealing
10.3.05

Howdy, y'all. The Stumptown Comics Fest was an ass-kickin' good time. Thanks to Indigo Kelliegh for putting it on, to Ezra Clayton Daniels for putting on the Comic Art Battle, and to all the people who actually showed up to spend money on comics. The New Radio did well, and it was really a good time.

Something So Familiar came out early on Wednesday, September 28th, so get your copy now. We'll be selling the book and the poster on the site within a week, so if you want to get them through us, you can. Books will be $5, postage paid. The 11x17 poster, printed on thick-ass, acid-free, 110# cover with boomin'-black, soy-based inks, will be $7, postage paid. It was pretty popular at the show.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Corwin Light-Williams, a fellow histographer. Corwin specializes in computo-histography and can hold a conversation on the subtleties of histographical research with the best of them.

Come back soon for more info on the new projects. Wheels are spinnin' at The New Radio.

First New Radio Poster
9.15.05

Hey! Something So Familiar will be out in stores on October 5th, and we will be selling this image as an 11"x17" poster through the site shortly before or after the book's release. More info soon, along with another teaser from the later pages of The Last Island. Stay tuned!

Name Change
8.19.05

We should probably say something about the name change. Going from New Radio Comics to The New Radio happened because we were asked by adult comics publisher Radio Comix not to proceed with our original name. They felt it would be confusing for their fans and for ours. We didn't wanna push it. Unfortunately this happened after we solicited Something So Familiar to Diamond, so we're New Radio Comics in the August Previews, but the cover of SSF is gonna have the logo for The New Radio, as will every other book we put out. The address for this site, however, will not change.

Stay Rowdy.

New Goods
8.12.05

Rowdies. It's Alex. Most of the promotion for Something So Familiar is done, so now we're mostly sitting back and waiting for the reaction.

Jad and I will be at the Stumptown ComicsFest here in Portland on October 1st, and we'll be debuting SSF, which officially comes out on the following Wednesday, the 5th. We should also be selling screen prints or posters of an image from the book, and the show's mad cheap, so come if you're a Stumptowner. For those of you out of town, the prints or posters will be available through the website later, as will the book.

Read the preview we have posted of The Last Island, and when you're done check out *this teaser*. More later.

There's also some more conceptual art from Poison the Cure here, and there'll be tons more of that in October.

2 rowdy, y'all. Come back soon.

It never tasted this good.
7.30.05

August Previews is on the stands, y'all! Get your comic store to order you a copy of Something So Familar!

The New Radio is talking about putting out a quarterly book, The New Radio Broadcast, starting June of 2006, which would showcase the ongoing chapters of Poison the Cure as they come out and then other stories once Poison is done. More on this later.

We'll be posting random teaser images from The Last Island for the next few months as well as more concept art from Poison, so come back soon and often!

7.6.05

Team. Alex here. I've got just under thirty pages of The Last Island under my belt and I'm headed to the San Diego Con to represent New Radio. We don't have a booth this year, since Jad and I are broke, but I'll be stormin' the floor with a beautiful girl in tow, tossin' out dummy copies of Something So Familiar to anyone with two eyeballs and spewing the New Radio partyline to anyone who looks at me. 2 Rowdy Life!

Disrespectay
5.29.05

Howdy, team. Alex here with a little update. Solicitation for Something So Familiar is done. It'll be in the August Previews for an October release. Make sure you tell your comic shop to grab copies for you and 75 of your best friends.

Work proceeds on The Last Island, but page 16 will probably be the last preview page we post here on the site. Jad and I are hoping to begin work on Poison the Cure in August, and we'll drop a ton of conceptual art on the site all month long. Keep your eyes peeled for all this stuff, 'cause it'll come fast along with other New Radio news.

You're damn right.
4.10.05

Hello, my rowdies. Alex here. Just thought I should mention that Something So Familiar was awarded a Xeric grant and will be available in a comic store not too far from you in the not too distant future as the very first New Radio comic. We got tons where that came from, too. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked for the next bit of New Radio madness.

Fresh Delivery
4.3.05

The first New Radio comic is gonna be Something So Familiar. It's done. It may or may not be in a comic store this summer, depending on whether Alex scores a Xeric.

Alex's new book, The Last Island, is in full effect and all of its 50+ pages will be done by the end of the summer. Viewable pages forthcoming. Jad and Alex's mutual book, Poison The Cure, is in full effect and all of its script will be done by the end of the summer. More viewables forthcoming.

Comics are the real effin' deal, y'all, and nobody at New Radio is stoppin' for nobody. 2 Rowdy.
